NA passes unanimous resolution calling for collective effort to build  peaceful, prosperous, secure Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Dec 16 (APP): The National Assembly on Monday unanimously passed a resolution calling on the government, alongside all political, social, and civil society actors, to unite in the collective effort to build a peaceful, prosperous, and secure Pakistan, free from the scourge of terrorism.
The resolution, moved by Pakistan Peoples Party senior leader Shazia Marri, said that on December 16, 2014, when 149 innocent lives, including 132 children, were mercilessly taken by terrorists, the nation acknowledges the unparalleled sacrifice made by these young martyrs, their teachers, and staff, who displayed extraordinary courage in the face of unimaginable brutality.
The resolution paid tribute to the resilience and courage of the families of the martyrs, whose sacrifice has become a symbol of the nation’s unity and determination in the fight against terrorism.
It further recognized that the APS attack was not just an attack on a school, but on the very soul and future of Pakistan. “The children of APS remind us of the heavy cost of terrorism and underscore the importance of ensuring that no child in Pakistan lives in fear of violence,” the resolution stated.
The resolution reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to eliminating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, recognizing this as the cornerstone of national security and development. It also appreciated the efforts made under the National Action Plan to combat terrorism and resolved to enhance its implementation with renewed vigor and accountability.
The resolution outlined actions including:  Observing December 16 as a national day of remembrance for the martyrs of APS and all victims of terrorism in Pakistan.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and extremism through comprehensive, sustained, and verified efforts, and enhancing the provision of security for educational institutions across the country to ensure that schools remain safe sanctuaries for children to learn and grow without fear.
Committing to strengthening anti-terrorism frameworks, improving intelligence coordination, and ensuring justice for the victims of terrorism.
Pledging unwavering support to the armed forces, law enforcement agencies, and all those who continue to make sacrifices to protect the sovereignty and peace of Pakistan. Expressing solidarity with the families of the APS martyrs and all victims of terrorist incidents, ensuring that their sacrifices will never be forgotten.
